Laser doesn't work on blonde, white or grey hair. Period.
At Glow Luxe, we believe in radical transparency. We frequently hear from people who have been receiving treatments elsewhere in Victoria (some for over a year) with zero results. In many of these cases, it's not the technology—it's the type of hair being treated.
While we specialize in laser hair removal in Victoria for ideal candidates, understanding your hair biology is the first step to avoiding a wasted investment.
If you have "peach fuzz" (vellus hair) or very light-colored hair, no laser device in the world, regardless of the brand or price, will produce a meaningful result. It's a waste of your time and money. Unfortunately, it's far too common.
The Science: Why Pigment is Non-Negotiable
Laser technology utilizes Selective Photothermolysis. The laser targets melanin (pigment). The energy is absorbed by the dark pigment, travels down the shaft, and disables the follicle.
Without sufficient pigment, the laser has no "target." It is effectively blind.
This is why laser hair removal is highly effective for dark, coarse hair but fails for:
- Blonde, grey, or white hair
- Fine facial "peach fuzz" (vellus hair)
- True strawberry blonde hair
Without sufficient pigment, the laser simply has nothing to “see.”
You Can't Treat "Peach Fuzz"
Facial peach fuzz may seem like an easy fix—but it’s actually one of the least suitable candidates for laser hair removal.
This type of hair is extremely fine, light in color, and low in melanin. In some cases, treating peach fuzz with laser may even trigger Paradoxical Hypertrichosis, a condition where the body makes the hair thicker and more noticeable.
Even with multiple sessions, laser hair removal will not produce a meaningful reduction for peach fuzz.
