Botox Treatment Victoria BC
North America's most popular treatment. Designed to soften lines and wrinkles in areas of excessive dynamic movement. A little Botox® results in a refreshed look and a reduction in unwanted expression lines.
Nuceiva (prabotulinumtoxinA) is an aesthetic injection that has the same mechanism of action as Botox (onabotulinumtoxinA). It is a neuromodulator that is indicated for reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as you age. This is accomplished by blocking the nerves that innervate the facial muscles causing an inhibition in muscle contraction to keep the facial muscles in the relaxed state. This is commonly used for forehead wrinkles, frown lines and crow’s feet. In one study, Nuceiva was shown to be equal in comparison to Botox.1 Some individuals reported a quicker onset with Nuceiva compared to Botox, however, everyone is unique and will process the drug differently.
- A reduction in the depth and appearance of crow's feet
- A reduction in the depth and appearance of dynamic fine lines and wrinkles
- A softening of the 11's between the brows
Commonly Asked Questions:
How often do I have to get cosmetic injections once I start and when will I notice effects?
Typically maximum effects of Nuceiva occur around day 10-14, but can be noticed as soon as 3 days after injections. These effects last for approximately 3-4 months, after which re-treatment is recommended. You may get longer lasting results with repeated injections.
What is a neuromodulator and where is it sourced from?
A neuromodulator is a purified, natural protein derived from the bacteria Clostridium botulinum that relaxes wrinkle-causing muscles causing a smoothed appearance of the skin.
What is the cost of a single treatment?
The cost of a treatment varies depending on the individual, which areas they’d like treated, and how severe their wrinkles are. Typically the cost for a single treatment is anywhere between $150-$450, but can be outside of this range. The cost of Nuceiva injections at our clinic is $10 per unit so it depends how many units are needed for the desired outcome. The cost of each treatment will always be discussed beforehand to avoid any surprises and ensure patient satisfaction.
Is Nuceiva safe?
Although cosmetic treatment with Nuceiva is generally considered safe, it does have potential risks and adverse effects just like any other drug. For cosmetic procedures, very small amounts of the drug are injected which have been considered very safe. It is considered unsafe in certain individuals such as those allergic to any of the ingredients, pregnant individuals or those that have infection or inflammation around the injection sites. A health history form will be completed before any treatment is started to ensure that Nuceiva is safe for you.
Is the treatment painful?
Nuceiva is injected with an extremely small needle. The treatment is generally painless but you may feel a sensation similar to a pin prick or a mosquito bite.
What is the recovery time for neuromodulator injections?
The great thing about these injections is that there is zero downtime! Treatment takes about 10-20 minutes and you can continue on with your regular day. We recommend avoiding vigorous exercise for ~4 hours after treatment.
