Knowing what to expect before your first treatment can help you feel more confident throughout the process. While every client responds a little differently, most experiences follow a very similar pattern.
During Your Treatment
Your treatment provider will move the laser handpiece across the treatment area, delivering controlled pulses of light to the hair follicles. Most clients describe the sensation as a quick snap against the skin. Treatment times vary depending on the size of the area being treated, with many appointments lasting only a few minutes.
Immediately After Treatment
It's normal to experience mild redness or warmth, similar to a light sunburn, immediately after treatment. This typically settles within a few hours, although some clients may notice redness for up to 24 hours. Most people return to their normal daily activities right away.
The Next 7–14 Days
One of the most important things to understand is that treated hairs don't disappear immediately. Instead, they gradually shed from the follicle over the following one to two weeks. This isn't new hair growth—it's simply your body naturally releasing the treated hairs.
For the first 24 hours, we recommend avoiding hot tubs, chlorinated pools, vigorous exercise, and anything that may create excessive heat or friction on the treated area while your skin settles.
What We've Learned After 24 Years
After performing thousands of laser hair removal treatments, we've noticed that many first-time clients are surprised by the same things:
Hair shedding is a good sign. Many people think their hair is growing back after treatment, when in reality those treated hairs are simply working their way out of the follicle. This gradual shedding is an expected part of the process.
Consistency matters. Following your recommended treatment schedule gives us the best opportunity to target each new group of actively growing hairs. Waiting too long between appointments can slow your overall progress.
Different areas respond differently. Areas such as the legs and underarms often respond more predictably than hormonally influenced areas like the face, which may require additional treatments or occasional maintenance.
Laser hair removal is a process, not a single treatment. Most clients begin noticing changes early in their treatment series, with the best long-term results developing gradually over multiple appointments.
