WHAT IS A CHERRY ANGIOMA?
A cherry angioma is a type of non-cancerous skin growth that appears as a small, bright red bump on the skin's surface. They are also known as senile angiomas, Campbell de Morgan spots, or simply red moles.
Cherry angiomas are common and typically develop in adults over the age of 30. They can occur anywhere on the body, but are most commonly found on the torso, arms, and legs.

WHAT CAUSES CHERRY ANGIOMAS?
Cherry angiomas are formed by the proliferation of blood vessels in the skin and are usually painless. Although the exact cause of cherry angiomas is not yet fully understood, it's believed that genetic factors, age, and environmental factors may play a role in their development. Some potential causes are:

Genetics: Research suggests that there may be a genetic component to the development of cherry angiomas, as they tend to run in families.

Age: Cherry angiomas are more common in people over the age of 30, and their prevalence tends to increase with age.

Hormonal changes: Some studies have suggested that hormonal changes during pregnancy or menopause may trigger the development of cherry angiomas.

ARE CHERRY ANGIOMAS HARMFUL?
Don't worry, cherry angiomas are considered harmless and simply a cosmetic concern.
They might bleed a little if you scratch or rub them the wrong way, but aside from that, cherry angiomas are usually harmless.
