Ingrown Hair? You need laser hair removal.

The fact is waxing, shaving and tweezing all have the potential to encourage ingrown hair. If you've experienced the discomfort of ingrown hair, or perhaps even scaring, then it's time to look at your options.

  • Laser Hair Removal
  • Electrolysis

There are two methods of hair removal that prevent ingrown hair, laser and electrolysis. Both methods work by physically destroying the hair root and removing it's ability to regenerate new hair.

Laser is great for those large areas in particular. It's fast, effective and often very comfortable. Results are achievable with as few as 3 or 4 treatments (although 4 -10 is possible) Lasers only downside is it won't work on white/grey or blonde hair.

Electrolysis while permanent, only treats each hair individually and so is very time consuming. It also tends to be painful. We recommend electrolysis only for those clients that have white/gray or light blonde hair.

Why am I getting ingrown hair?

Waxing and tweezing pull the hair out from the root. When the root regenerates and begins to grow new hair, any blockage (such as dead skin, etc) can force the hair to continue growing under the skin. Bacteria and inflammation often follow, and if you've picked and worked at bringing the hair to the surface you may even cause visible scaring. Shaving also shears the hair close to the skin (leaving a sharp end) which may also grow into the side of the follicle creating an ingrown.

Laser hair removal is the best option, but if you're not quite ready, exfoliation can be helpful. Ask about our line of at home peels which may help in keeping hair follicles clear and reduce ingrown growth.
